Extra, Extra, Cameron in a corner

This could help hide the cracks and fill the gaps.

This could help hide the cracks and fill the gaps.

Ed Milliband must have found it so hard to hide his glee yesterday. Prime Minister Cameron walks away from cross party talks on the application of the Leverson enquiry, the press are in uproar, Clegg is keen to be seen on supporting him and to top it all he made Cameron look a Turnip at PMQ on Wednesday.  Weeks like this come around only once in politics. Add to the fall out over press regulation a tory party that is split and growing anger from his backbenchers and Cameron is in deep trouble. He is on the rocks and so is the coalition. It is political suicide to take the Leverson enquiry finding to a vote in the Commons on Monday. Ed Milliband and Clegg are already siding with each other. They will form a coalition that should see Cameron’s proposals defeated. Several Tory Members are also expected to side with the Milliband/ Clegg team. No matter how much the Cameron faithful look to whip the party Mps on this question a defeat is on the cards. A prime minister, defeated, weak. His own party sat behind him and failing to back him up. Look at the pictures from PMQ. Ranks of Tory members glum, distant and hoping for a new leader. Leverson is the straw to break Cameron the Camels back. A budget on Wednesday, growing concern for the lack of economic growth, u turns on drink pricing and the bedroom tax all add to a picture of gloom for Cameron. I have said it before and will state it again. The Tories will cut their own throats. It looks like someone has just handed Cameron the blade. Now all we need is another clever person to whisper in his ear, “Go on do it”. Winston.

PAYING THE PRYCE

Huhne and Pryce, they got off lightly.

Huhne and Pryce, they got off lightly.

If theres one thing most of us love it has to be the fall from grace of some public figure. Wealth, power, greed and then it all comes to an end over some scandal. It warms us on a Winters evening as we sit and jeer at our Tv screens. From hero to zero in a matter of minutes, it has to be good.  In fact I find thinks like the Huhne Pryce affair sad. How two people with good careers and futures can put themselves into the dock is beyond me. The way they both assumed that the law would be on their side, a law they consider they were above. Two high flyers that the law would not and could not touch because it only applies to the little people, the man and woman in the street. I really don’t understand how they could throw it all away. This affair shows just how those in power view the law. Rich footballers with gagging orders or politicians with speeding points, they believe that the law is there for them and they can do what they want when they want to whom they want. This is the culture in the UK today and it is one that the cruelty and greed of this coalition has encouraged. How do we expect those in public life to behave well when all they see is our political leaders misbehaving?, leaders that should be shaping and forming laws and instead go around breaking them.  Then we see the rule for one and a rule for another. The sentences handed out yesterday of 8 months each was an insult to justice. Perverting the course of justice carries a life sentence. I don’t think that Pryce or Huhne should have been given 15 years but one year or two would have shown how these offences are extremely serious. In a society were a shop lifter can get a year for stealing food to feed his or hers family it is a sad reflection on the weakness of the judicial system. The old boy network with the right school tie needs to end. I hope that Pryce and Huhne found their first night inside pleasant. I also hope that neither of them pull the reborn again christian scam to get out. Both will write books, Huhne will want to do all the chat shows to plug it. So this affair could roll on for a long time. Brace yourself folks. Winston.

The end of the beginning.

A man under pressure.

A man under pressure.

The Eastleigh by-election was supposed to buy Nick Clegg time. The victory was to put him back in the party good books, stop anyone making a challenge for his leadership and let him get the party back on track with the public.  But things never seem to go Nicks way. First Vince Cable decided it would be a good time to write 3000 words on why the British economy is failing under the Coalition. Then to make matters worse the Lord Rennard scandal won’t go away. All in all it’s been a bad Winter for Clegg and the Lib Dems.  It is clear that within the Coalition splits are growing but the big question is the splits within the Lib Dems. Cable seems to have started his own leadership campaign. He is not one for the media but in the past week he is never far from a TV screen or a reporter. Interview after interview starting last Sunday with the politics show. A vote of confidence for his leader and talk of not wanting the job himself stood out. Then the week past with more talk and 3000 words to the Times. I think tha Vince is looking to step back on the one hand from the inhuman policies of the coalition and into Nicks shoes on the other. One thing you and I can be sure of, the Coalition is falling apart and Clegg has a matter of months left before he is replaced. Get ready for a Summer of leadership battles folk. I predict that Clegg will be out by September and Cameron could go before. Anyone fancy a nice general election before Christmas? I do. Winston.

THANK YOU FROM NUMBER TEN.

It's got to go! remember us in 2015

It’s got to go! remember us in 2015

We got the keys on my birthday. The excitement of finally getting the house was fantastic. A place that met the needs of our two disabled children, a garden, space. We knew that number ten would take years of work. The council had done very little to it in the way of improvements and maintenance, but so what? We would do it up over the coming years.  Thats what we did. The first six years we painted, repaired and replaced. At the same time we home educated our children, one because of bullying and two because we didn’t want their minds filled with pro-government rubbish that New Labour had enforced. It was hard going but we did it.  Slowly we became part of the community. We helped our elderly neighbours, I cleared snow from their paths, did shopping and even helped one chap into bed as he slowly died of cancer. We did our bit and made some great friends along the way.  The family grew up and times were good and bad. My in-laws passed away and there was shock and deep upset. My young nephew also lost his battle to a long illness he had since birth.  These events, all the hurt and upset within these walls. Of course the good times will always be with us. The birth of our grand children, the success of our sons and daughters.  All good things come to an end they say. Well the introduction of the BEDROOM TAX as made sure of that in our case. We have to leave dear old number ten behind. A small three bedroom house on an estate waits for us. We are those in social housing, we are the disabled, the work shy, the scroungers and the scum of the earth. The ones that stay in bed until one in the afternoon, do nothing for anyone and take all we can. Read the above and you know different.  Before we leave here for our new home I wanted to let you know just how evil, vile this policy is. I could go into the complexities of it, I could swear and aim nasty comments at the likes of Iain Duncan Smith. But I refuse to give them the pleasure, to let them tar me with their brush. No, instead I ask you, the free-thinker, the left or right-wing, the rich or poor, well-educated, weak-minded, good or bad to read this and pass it on. Let others know what this government are doing to its citizens.  Now thanks. To all my followers of this blog and on Twitter, heartfelt thanks to each of you for all the love and support. Comments, e mails, offers of help and in some cases money. Thank you, thank you and thank you again. My family as never known such great, caring, wonderful people. I cannot name you all as I would need another blog to fit you all in.  Finally. The day will come when this tax and the policies of the Coalition will be view by history. Future generations will unpick them from their text books, who knows this could be on a page. They will conclude as I have that the laws they created were aimed at the poorest of society in order to make the rich, richer. Remember this on that day in May 2015 when they want your vote. Winston & Family.

The turning of the screw

To close for comfort, time to step back and fight for your class!

To close for comfort, time to step back and fight for your class!

By the time most of you read this another weeks PMQ (Prime Ministers Questions) will have been and gone. Cameron and Milliband will go head to head and the pundits will pull the whole affair apart. They will soon decide that the winner will be Cameron. Only a few times as Ed come out on top. The truth is that Ed Milliband is out of his comfort zone. He looks like a fish out of water and is unable to get the better of the slick Cameron. Another factor is that he asks questions that can and are thrown back at him time and again. Like all politicians Cameron likes to answer a question with another question, something that Ed has yet to cotton onto. He allows this to happen week in and week out. It is time that Ed put his best foot forward. Start by spelling out the facts behind the coalitions policies. Go for the bedroom tax first. Point out how most charities have looked deep into the effects of this tax and concluded that the UK will see a huge rise in homelessness as a direct result of its implementation in April. Then add that One Nation Labour not only disagree with this policy but will overturn it if they take power in 2015. From here Ed with his venom up could bring the question of Disability Living allowance into play. April sees DLA go and PIPS introduced. Again Ed go for it and make it clear that this is a policy hitting the poorest to pay for the errors of the richest. 2015 will see you overturn it and DLA remain. The list of things to throw is endless. Defence spending and Trident, NHS, Education, Policing on and on you could go. But instead we will get the same old Ed. A nice question, followed by a little rant. Cameron fires back, you sit and take it. You wait and then you change the subject with another question. Cameron smiles, stands at the dispatch box, fires back, questions over. Every single member of the working class watching feels let down. A sinking feeling overwhelms us all has the Daily Politics pundits pull you apart. “Weak” or “slow to act” roll from their lips every Wednesday. You see Ed it is time to get your act together. Stop asking the questions that you hope will lead into some kind of nice, reasonable debate. Go for it, attack and catch the coalition on the hop. Open your mouth and let the words like, socialism, working class, poverty, cruel, fascist coalition roll out. Stop the weak back slapping, the middle of the road argument. We don’t care who you upset but for all our sakes upset someone from the coalition.Winston. FOOTNOTE. HUGO CHAVEZ R.I.P, A true socialist and friend of his people and class.

H & H, DEALING IN DEATH est 2010

Taking us to war and make money for the rich.

Taking us to war and make money for the rich.

It maybe a coincidence that the Foreign secretary and the defence secretary both had something to say on Sunday. Maybe I read far too much into their words. However the timing was perfect. First Hannibal Hammond said that defence spending should not be cut anymore and that Welfare should once again come under the coalition axe. Then, within the hour up pops little Willy Hague, the all smiling all dancing foreign secretary. Little Willy will not rule out supplying arms in the future to Syrian rebels. Arms, what arms, when, where, to whom and at what cost to the British tax payer? Two well-timed and well-aimed statements that are softening the ground on which the public stand ready for another war.  When the economy fails and nothing will get it moving return to the good old tory policies of the last century. A war, lots of government spending, lots of private companies getting fat orders and plenty of working class kids killed and off of the unemployment lists. Thats right folks we are getting ready for a nice big war so that we can get things moving here at home. Syria will be the new Afghanistan, a rerun of Iraq. The troops maybe coming home next year but their boots won’t touch British soil for long if Hammond and Hague have their way. Lets remember that Hague has just held talks with his US counter part John Kerry and one thing we can all be sure of is if the USA want a war then we will follow them right into one. Tell your children that the future looks dark and keep them away from military service. Winston

Goodnight from me and goodnight from him.

If you watched the Sunday politic show yesterday you would have seen Vince Cable. He was in fine form, defending the coalition and the evil cuts. He even found time to sing the praises of his leader,Nick Clegg. When asked if he would consider standing for the leadership in the future he dismissed the question out of hand. “Nick will lead us into the next election” he said. He smiled and did his best to change the subject. The indorsment had the ring of the football chairman backing the club manager and then sacking him on the Monday. It just seemed to be shallow and distant. I could be wrong but I think Clegg his on weak ground. I have a feeling that there are moves within the Lib Dems to get rid of the man that took them into the coalition. This comes at a time that the tories are also having a rethink about their boss. Cameron has had rough time of it in the past week. Eastleigh was a nightmare with a 4th place finish and ground lost to UKIP. Then the issues of europe and gay marriage have seen the tory backbenches calling for his blood. So 2 leaders both facing the chop. A rare treat for all of us that so hate this government. But who will step into their shoes and could we ended up with a even worse situation?

The tories want to go to the right. How they will do this when they are already a fascist party is beyond me. Camerons comment yesterday about “No lurch to the right” were not aimed at the public but at his enemies within. He knows that his time as leader is almost up. Moves by the right wing are gathering pace and a stalking horse is being made ready. Who that will be is still unclear.

In the case of Clegg many are fuming about his lies about the Lord Rennard sex scandel. Add to this polls of ten per cent and you can see he to is on his way out. Again no one can be sure who would fill the gap he leaves behind. They could look for a more moderate leader, someone to stop the rot before 2015.

One thing is for sure it is time for Labour to act and to speed their departure up. As you know I have called for a general strike and think that this will be the turning point that we all need to rid us of the coalition. They are weak and it is clear that this is the time to send them packing. All it takes is MIlliband to show some guts and call on the trade unions and socialists everywhere to act.

If we don’t do it now we could see the right win the day and we all know where that will take us. The battle has begun and if you are a socialist, coalition hater or just tied of the cuts you need to make up your mind as to which side your on.Winston.

LET THEM EAT WAR.

Keeping things sweet. Hammond wants more from the poor.

Keeping things sweet. Hammond wants more from the poor.

At school you always had one kid in your class that no matter how you tried, you hated. You know the one I mean. The spoiled brat that was teachers pet all at the same time. In the case of the coalition the teacher’s pet or Cameron’s cat has to be defence secretary, Philip Hammond. Yesterday, with the backing of former military leaders, he said that the defence department couldn’t take any more cuts. He added that any cuts to be made should come from the welfare bill. Thats right, welfare. £28 BILLION already cut and this tory action man, darling of the right wants even more taken from the poor. A recent poll showed that only 27% of the public support further cuts to welfare. Charites throughout the nation brace themselves for a massive rise in our homeless and hungry population due to the introduction of the BEDROOM tax and this ivory tower dwelling fascist wants bombs not benefits. The more moderate amongst you must now see that the policies of Hammond and the coalition are not designed to save this country from financial ruin but are carefully constructed ideological attacks on the working class. To put weapons like TRIDENT, costing £22.000 every six minutes before the needs of the most vulnerable in society is sick! To call upon the working class to sacrifice our children in the wars of capitalism like those in Iraq and Afghanistan with one hand and do his best to take away the safety blanket of the welfare state with the other shows the contempt this man and his party has for working people. The comments made yesterday got no response from One Nation Labour. Milliband was to busy reading his paper and debating the things that matter to a middle class intellectual like him. You know the subjects I mean, Marks and spencer ready meal or a quick trip to Costa for an organic goats milk coffee? Nothing to say as yet another attack was made on the very people he wants to vote for him. This is the very same Labour leader that will keep Trident, replace it at a cost of £300 billion. The man who will continue our “special relationship” with America, send our kids to die and keep cutting welfare to look good. VOTE LABOUR if you want more of what we already have. The time has come, no more. We need action not words. I call on the trade union movement to withdraw funding to One Nation Labour. I ask them as defenders of the workers to call a GENERAL STRIKE! I ask all socialists from all groups and parties to unite together to bring this fascist coalition to an end. We cannot take anymore of them or their cuts. If people like Hammond can hold the working class and poor in such a narrow-minded view then surely it is up to us to show him and his class that we will not stand for their attacks anymore. The time has come comrades to fight back with all we have. Labour will not defend us so we must do it ourselves. Winston.

AT GRASS ROOTS.

Two Ed's are better than one? Not in this case.

Two Ed’s are better than one? Not in this case.

It’s the most traffic that this blog as ever received. The piece I wrote yesterday, Friday feeling, Cameron out cold has been visited by well over seven hundred people. Add the debate on Twitter, the comments of support and you begin to see that most working class people feel the same, Milliband and One Nation Labour no longer have the voice of the workers. What UKIP has done for the right is what most people now want a new left-wing movement to do for them. I want to thank everyone that made contact and pushed the blog online. A big thank you to all those that voiced their opinions. So what next? It is time to reclaim the Labour party. We either do this or unite all the other parties of the left and form a new socialist alliance. Easier said than done I think most of you would agree. It is the timing that counts. Cameron is weak and feeling the heat of his back benchers. Questions are being asked about his leadership and a stalking horse will be being selected this weekend at some country retreat. Lets hope Iceland or Tesco don’t find out or the poor sod could end up in a burger. The Conservative right are split. This leaves Clegg. He maybe smug after Eastleigh but he knows this is only buying him time. Sooner or later the Lib Dems are going to jump ship and pull out of the coalition. Will they want to take the man who dragged them into this mess with them? Now we come to Ed Milliband and his One nation Labour. From the feed back I got yesterday there is growing unrest at grass-roots level within the Labour party. Most want to see a move to the left and policies that reflect their concerns over the ideological attacks on the welfare state by the coalition. Milliband is seen as weak and indecisive. He is not standing up for the poor or the working class. Nothing is being done to stop the attacks on the disabled, the benefit system, the unions. This growing unrest, a split coalition and the rise of the right make this the perfect time to push for a left-wing agenda. Our MP’s need to be told that we want our party back. A socialist party that puts our class before others. A party that is willing to defend the welfare state and not sit back and watch it destroyed and then wash its hands. Members of the party need to start putting on the pressure. If this fails then a new socialist movement of the left will be the only alternative. I for one would be more than willing to help form it and I know of plenty more out there that feel the same. They, like me feel that Labour no longer hold the support of working class people. If we cannot change this then we will have to build a new party. It has been done before and we can do it again. Winston.

THE FRIDAY FEELING, CAMERON OUT COLD.

Nigel Farage and UKIP give Cameron a kicking.

Nigel Farage and UKIP give Cameron a kicking.

Eastleigh in Hampshire can return to normality now the by-election is over. The mix of wealthy and upper middle class residents must be glad to get their peace back. The Lib Dems managed to hold onto the seat with a majority of 1800. No great shock there, they control the local political scene. Labour had no chance of taking the seat. They couldn’t win it in 1997, the year of the red flood when they swept into power after 18 years of tory rule. No, Eastleigh was a great chance to watch the coalition partners throw mud (and bricks) at each other as far as Labour was concerned. Now for the Conservatives the by-election had a completely different meaning. This was a target seat, a must win if they want power outright in 2015. All the big guns came to show support. Cameron did the old door step photo shoot and I think kissed a baby. For the Tories Eastleigh was vital. Well we all have bad days. Osborne must have been so down, fed up and melancholy after losing the triple A last week. Nick Clegg could have pulled his hair out after five days of a sex scandal story breaking. David Cameron, well, well he must want to smash a restaurant up or cut some poor souls benefits after last night. Not only did the Tories fail to win Eastleigh, they failed to even come in second. UKIP stole the night, made a mockery out of the Conservative party and showed the right-wing of British politics has a new darling. But what can we on the left learn from this? As much has we may all hate UKIP and it’s narrow-minded view of this country and it’s place in Europe we also have to admire them. This small bunch of former Tories, failed want to be’s and small shop owners have taken politics by storm. They have put themselves in a position of power brokers, capable of being king makers in 2015. The lesson for the left is clear. Time for us to form our own movement or party and make our way in British politics. Anyone that watched last nights BBC Question time would have seen the working class hero, film director, Ken Loach say the same thing. Time for trade unions to stop funding One Nation Labour and to put their money into a movement that actually wants to support working people.  No more middle class back slapping from Milliband and his nice team of well-educated career politicians. The vast majority of working class people in this country want a voice for them and not the daily drone of an opposition leader that cares more for business than he does for their needs. They want to be heard, those on benefits want to be heard. Instead they feel that every party, Labour included see’s them all as scum and easy targets. What Farage and UKIP have done for the right we know must do for the left. The Coalition is weak, running out of time and destroying society for destroying sake. The left-wing has to react, has to make a stand and do what it can to change the course of British politics and the nation as a whole. Eastleigh is a timely reminder that the mainstream can lose ground and we have to be the next movement to take it. Winston.
